How to Create 3D Assets in a Consistent Style
When you’re building a game, nothing breaks immersion faster than mismatched art styles. In professional studios, multiple artists work together under a shared art direction—a clear set of visual guidelines, reference images, and rules that ensure every asset fits seamlessly into the game’s world.
Now, Sloyd lets you give the same kind of art direction to AI.
With our Custom Style feature, you can upload a reference image and use it as the style guide for your AI-generated assets. The AI takes what to create from your text prompt and how it should look from your reference image. As they say, an image is worth a thousand words—and in this case, it’s worth a thousand consistent assets.
You can even save multiple custom styles—one for characters, one for props, and one for environment assets—so your game world stays visually cohesive from start to finish.
Use Case: Same Dungeon, Different Style
Independent art director Pavel Arkhipov demonstrated how powerful this can be. He recreated the exact same dungeon twice, each time with a completely different style.
Style 1: Gooey & Creepy
First, Pavel created a reference image for a “gooey, slightly creepy” dungeon style.

He then prompted Sloyd to generate dungeon assets—crates, barrels, walls, and torches—in that style. Once placed together, the scene had an eerie, sticky, unsettling vibe.

Style 2: Whimsical Gnome Dungeon
Next, Pavel switched gears. He created a second reference image for a “gnome” style—more whimsical, colorful, and cozy.

Using the same prompts as before, he regenerated the dungeon assets. This time, the dungeon felt warm, charming, and magical.

Why This Matters
With custom styles, you don’t have to compromise between speed and consistency. You can:
- Keep your game’s art direction locked in, even across multiple scenes.
- Quickly adapt the same base concept to different moods or genres.
- Give your AI the same kind of guidance you’d give a human artist.
Whether you’re a solo developer or part of a team, Sloyd’s Custom Style feature makes it easy to build worlds that feel coherent—and look exactly the way you imagined.
